Stromatolite Fossil Sterling Silver Necklace - Artisan Handcrafted Earthy Natural Fossil Stone Jewelry

This one-of-a-kind necklace features a natural stromatolite fossil stone accented with a hand forged sterling silver bail with a lightly hammered organic texture. Stromatolites are fossilized layered deposits of algae within ancient sedimentary rock. These old single-celled organisms are believed to be some of the first forms of life on this planet. The stone has earth tones hues of dark brown with waves of lighter brown and tan inclusions. It's typically found on the coastlines and beaches of Mexico, Brazil, and the Bahamas. The stone is equally gorgeous on both sides, so I designed it to be reversible. (See all photos for alternate sides). It will make a great gift for a fossil stone lover or a unique addition to you own jewelry wardrobe.

MEASUREMENTS: 3" in length (from top of sterling bail to bottom of stone) and 1-3/4” at widest point. I hand sawed the bail out of solid sterling silver sheet; hand filed edges until meticulously smooth; then hammered it for an organic texture. It comes on a 20" stainless steel chain necklace with lobster claw closure. The chain can be worn with other pendants - so it's like getting 2 pieces of jewelry in one!
